Hamas confirmed, on Saturday, its readiness to cooperate with any initiative aimed at confronting attempts to displace Palestinians and rebuild the Gaza Strip without prejudice to Palestinian rights, and completing the remaining stages of the ceasefire agreement and Israel's withdrawal from the Strip.

This came in a statement issued by the head of the movement's leadership council, Muhammad Darwish, in a message addressed to the upcoming Arab summit in Cairo.

Cairo is scheduled to host an emergency Arab summit next Tuesday, with the aim of “formulating a strong Arab position on the Palestinian issue in general, and presenting a general Arab proposal that counters the American proposal to displace the Palestinians of Gaza.”

Darwish said: “We are ready to cooperate with any initiative that would confront attempts to displace our people from the Gaza Strip and rebuild the Strip without prejudice to Palestinian rights, especially our people’s firm right to resist the occupation.”

He added that Hamas is ready to “achieve a just solution to our Palestinian cause that guarantees the right to self-determination, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty and Jerusalem as its capital, and the return of refugees to their cities and villages from which they were displaced since the Nakba.”

He continued: "We are keen to complete the remaining stages of the ceasefire agreement, leading to a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Strip, reconstruction, and lifting the siege."

Darwish stressed that “the day after the war must be purely Palestinian, based on national consensus and brotherly Arab support.”

Hamas expressed its readiness to deal with any option agreed upon by the Palestinians, whether by forming a national consensus government of expert technocrats and Palestinian professional figures, or forming a community support committee.

He pointed out that Hamas "expressed its readiness to deal with any option agreed upon by the Palestinians, whether by forming a national consensus government of expert technocrats and Palestinian professional figures, or forming the community support committee proposed by Egypt to manage the affairs of Gaza, in accordance with the laws in force in the Palestinian territories."

Darwish stressed that "Hamas categorically rejects any attempt to impose any non-Palestinian projects or administrative forms, or the presence of any foreign forces on the lands of the Gaza Strip."

He stressed Hamas's keenness "to put the Palestinian house in order once and for all, especially the Palestine Liberation Organization, on the basis of full partnership to be a true representative of all Palestinians, to hold general elections at various national levels, to restore democratic life, and to enable our people to choose their leadership and to draw and determine our political choices and future with complete freedom."

In his message, Darwish expressed the movement's appreciation for the unified Arab position rejecting the project to displace our Palestinian people, especially the positions of Egypt and Jordan.

He said, "This brutal project and other projects aimed at displacing our Palestinian people, annexing the West Bank, strengthening settlements, and controlling Al-Aqsa Mosque are crimes that do not target our people alone, but are a crime against humanity."

He added, "The priorities for confronting this project include providing relief to our afflicted people and working by all means to force the occupation to abide by the ceasefire agreement in all its terms and stages and implement the humanitarian protocol."

Darwish called on the Arab countries to “participate effectively in the reconstruction and building of the Gaza Strip, as this is the most important step to strengthen the steadfastness of our people and establish them in their homeland, and to prevent the implementation of any plans of the occupation for displacement or any plans to empty the Palestinian land and enable the occupation to control it.”
