27 people died in traffic accidents in the liberated areas during the first half of February.
A security statistic said that the liberated areas witnessed 194 incidents during the first half of February, which resulted in the death of 27 people and the injury of 166 others, 92 of whom were seriously injured.
She added that the accidents, which resulted in financial losses of 67 million and 720 thousand riyals, were distributed between 111 vehicle collision accidents, 43 pedestrian run-over accidents, 29 vehicle rollover accidents, 7 collision accidents with a fixed object, 3 vehicle fall accidents, in addition to a vehicle running accident.
The statistics attributed traffic accidents to "violating traffic rules and regulations by exceeding the specified speed, wrong and dangerous overtaking, being distracted by things other than the road, driving while tired and exhausted, children and people with modest experience driving vehicles, neglecting periodic maintenance of the vehicle, reckless driving of motorcycles, and neglecting pedestrians when crossing the roads. The road and its technical qualifications played a major role in these accidents."
