Dozens of male and female teachers held a protest today, Tuesday, in front of the Education Office building in the interim capital, Aden, in southern Yemen, to demand the payment of their salaries and the improvement of their conditions.

The protesters raised slogans and chanted slogans affirming that their rights will not be ignored, and demanding the improvement of their conditions in light of the deteriorating economic conditions that the country is experiencing.

The demonstrators said that they had not received their salaries for three months, holding the legitimate, recognized government fully responsible for the deterioration of their conditions.

The teachers demanded the disbursement of their financial dues, including delayed salaries and bonuses, and the improvement of salaries in line with the collapse of the currency and the rise in prices, and ensuring the regularity of their monthly disbursement.

Teachers in the liberated governorates are carrying out protests and strikes due to the irregularity and delay in the payment of their salaries, in light of the deteriorating living conditions, as the teacher’s salary has become equivalent to $40, at a time when the government is witnessing a financial crisis since the cessation of oil exports due to the Houthi militia’s attacks on the ports for more than two years.
