The hours of power outages have increased in the interim capital, Aden (southern Yemen), amid reports that a number of power stations have stopped working.

Local residents told Yemen Youth Net that the hours of power outages increased yesterday, Tuesday, to more than 10 hours of power outages for every two hours of power, amid fears of an increase in these outages after news of a number of power stations stopping work.

While the General Electricity Corporation did not issue a statement explaining the reasons for the outages, informed sources stated that the matter was due to a shortage of fuel.

The sources indicated that the General Electricity Corporation of Aden programmed the service program for Wednesday at dawn today, 11 hours of power outage for every two hours of operation.

Electricity service in the interim capital, Aden, has rapidly collapsed since Saudi Arabia announced the launch of the fourth batch of the grant allocated to pay salaries and purchase petroleum derivatives, which makes it likely that the crisis was fabricated in an attempt to obtain part of that grant, according to observers.
