Mahra: Yemen Youth Net
Today, Turkish tunnel expert, Engineer Pirali Bakir, and a technical team from Hawk Company, headed by Engineer Mohammed Al-Shaibani, began assessing the technical damage to the tunnels of the Fartak Mountains, located on the international coastal road in Al-Mahrah Governorate, eastern Yemen.
According to the Al Mahrah Media Center, the damages include swelling of the road body and the appearance of cracks. The team aims to prepare a comprehensive report on the extent of the damage and the costs required to repair it, to submit it to the Ministry of Public Works for approval and project financing.
The Undersecretary of Al Mahrah Governorate for Technical Affairs, Eng. Awad Ahmed Quwaizan, confirmed that this visit comes within the framework of the governorate’s ongoing efforts in cooperation with the political leadership and the Ministry of Public Works to repair the vital tunnels that connect the coastal directorates to each other and to neighboring countries in the east of the country.
Qwaizan pointed out that the Turkish expert and his accompanying team will continue working over the next two days to inspect the damaged tunnels, including the tunnel that Hook Company had previously supervised, to determine the necessary solutions to address the damage and ensure the continuity of traffic on the international road.
This road is a vital artery for trade and movement between Yemen and the Gulf States, and was opened in 2011.
