The Yemeni Interior Ministry announces the seizure of large quantities of hashish that were on their way to neighboring countries.

The Yemeni Interior Ministry announced, on Wednesday, the seizure of large quantities of hashish at the Shahn border crossing with the Sultanate of Oman, which was on its way to neighboring countries.

The security media affiliated with the ministry said in a statement that the customs office at the Shahn port in Al Mahrah Governorate (eastern Yemen) seized 200 kilograms of hashish at dawn on Wednesday, which was headed to neighboring countries.

He added that the shipment was hidden inside the roots of large trees and loaded onto a large locomotive that was welded and camouflaged by specialized gangs.

He explained that the accused, the Pakistani locomotive driver, and the seized hashish were transferred to shipping security to complete the legal procedures and refer them to the Public Prosecution.

The Director General of Security and Police in Al Mahrah Governorate, Brigadier General (Mufti Suhail Samouda), praised the efforts of the Customs Office in combating drug smuggling, noting that "the seizure is a painful blow to the criminal networks that trade in drugs estimated at 2 billion, and the investigation procedures will be completed and transferred to the Public Prosecution and the Criminal Court to receive their just punishment."

Brigadier Samouda pointed out that the efforts to combat drugs are ongoing and will not stop, calling on everyone to cooperate with the security services to combat this crime.
