A motorcyclist was killed on Tuesday evening in a horrific collision accident that occurred in the Sa'ilat Al-Ain area, in the Al-Udayn district, west of the city of Ibb, in the center of the country.

Local sources reported that the accident resulted in the death of the young man, Mansour Qasim Marsh, who was working on his motorcycle on the Hadba-Al-Adain line to support his family and young children.

The incident sparked a wave of sadness among the residents, who called for improving the road infrastructure and enhancing traffic safety measures to reduce the recurring accidents in the area.

The causes of traffic accidents are attributed to excessive speed, in addition to the deterioration of road infrastructure and non-compliance with traffic rules.

According to official reports, the year 2024 witnessed a 30% increase in traffic accident victims compared to the previous year, with a total of 4,924 victims, including 663 deaths and 4,261 injuries, with 1,532 of the injuries classified as serious.

Reports indicated that material losses resulting from traffic accidents during the past year exceeded 5 billion Yemeni riyals, an increase of more than 3 billion riyals over the year 2023.

The Director General of Traffic had previously confirmed that traffic accidents are the silent killer that devours the lives of Yemenis on a daily basis.
