Marib Health prepares to launch an emergency campaign to vaccinate against cholera

Health authorities in Ma'rib Governorate (eastern Yemen) are preparing to implement an emergency campaign to vaccinate hundreds of thousands against the cholera epidemic early next month.

The health media in the governorate said that the health office in Marib held a meeting on Monday to discuss the arrangements and preparations for implementing the national campaign against cholera, which is scheduled to start early next December in the city and valley directorates, from house to house.

He added that the campaign, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Health in the recognized government, with funding from the World Health Organization and UNICEF, has immunized more than 800,000 people aged one year and above.

During the meeting, the Director of the Marib Health Office, Ahmed Al-Abadi, explained that the total number of cholera cases recorded in the governorate since the beginning of the year has reached 1,289 cases, including 203 confirmed cases, in addition to 18 deaths associated with the epidemic.
