Official statistics: More than 660 cases of infection and 10 deaths from measles in Marib since the beginning of the year

Official statistics revealed that more than 600 suspected cases of measles and ten deaths associated with the disease have been recorded in Ma'rib Governorate (eastern Yemen) since the beginning of this year.

The health media in Marib Governorate quoted the Director of the Epidemiological Surveillance Department in Marib, Dr. Abdo Nasser, as saying that 663 suspected cases of measles have been recorded since the beginning of 2025.

The publisher added that among the monitored cases, 70 cases were confirmed to be infected by the ELISA test conducted in the central laboratory, in addition to 10 deaths associated with the disease.

The governorate’s immunization coordinator, Ahmed Al-Ruqi, called on parents to protect their children from this disease by vaccinating them with booster doses from the age of six months to five years, noting that vaccines are available in all health facilities and are free of charge during official working hours.
