Today, Saturday, the "Rasd" organization for rights and freedoms revealed brutal torture operations that led to the death of the kidnapped Muhammad Ali Al-Naseem in the prisons of the terrorist Houthi militia in Sana'a.
This new testimony comes as part of a continuing series of crimes documented by international human rights reports, amid growing demands for justice and accountability for those involved.
In a press conference held in Ma'rib Governorate entitled "Death under Torture", the organization presented conclusive evidence, including photos and video clips, documenting what "Al-Naseem" was subjected to, including electric shocks, severe beatings, and suspension in solitary confinement rooms unfit for human habitation, which led to the deterioration of his health until his death on February 1, 2025.
The organization's statement indicated that the victim was kidnapped on January 25, 2020, and has since been subjected to the most heinous forms of psychological and physical torture, while the group denied responsibility for his killing and resorted to media deception to hide the truth.
In turn, journalist Jabr Sabr, the victim’s nephew, gave a moving testimony about Al-Naseem’s suffering, revealing that he was imprisoned in a narrow solitary confinement cell known as “Al-Daqata” for several hours a day, in addition to deliberate medical neglect and being denied treatment despite suffering from serious illnesses.
He also explained that the victim was prevented from seeing his wife, who died seven months ago, and was denied any contact with his family until his death.
Rasd called on the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and the Yemeni government to condemn the crime and pressure for an independent international investigation to ensure that the perpetrators do not escape punishment.
It also demanded that the Houthi group be obligated to release all those forcibly abducted, and to stop the systematic torture practices inside its prisons.
For its part, the Al-Naseem family stressed the need to take legal measures to hold accountable those responsible for the crime, most notably the group’s leader, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, and the leader Abdul-Qader Al-Murtada, and bring them to justice locally and internationally.
This crime highlights the extent of the violations committed by the Houthi group inside its prisons, which are no longer hidden from the international community.
While the global silence continues, the suffering of thousands of abductees who face an unknown fate behind bars is increasing, which calls for urgent action to save those who remain among them, and to stop the torture machine that has turned into a systematic tool of repression that threatens the lives of innocents in Yemen.
