Late Sunday evening, the beaches of Dhubab al-Mandab district were hit by a sudden, powerful tidal surge that caused seawater to reach residents' homes and sweep away fishing boats from the docks, causing significant property losses and terrorizing residents.

During a tour of the affected areas, the director general of the district, Sheikh Abdul Qawi Al-Wajeeh, explained that the tidal surge was concentrated on the district's central beaches, beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. A number of properties were damaged, according to the district's media.

The dignitary issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to the Presidential Leadership Council, the local authorities in Taiz, and humanitarian organizations to provide urgent aid to citizens.

Al-Wahiyah stressed the need to intensify efforts and ensure that all parties mobilize to provide the necessary support to those affected, including food aid and first aid, to confront this natural disaster. He warned that it was likely to continue and spread to various areas of the directorate at an increased pace, and that preparations should be made for the worst-case scenario.

The dignitary urged citizens to remain in safe areas and avoid low-lying areas. He also urged fishermen to refrain from sailing or approaching beaches temporarily to avoid any accidents that may occur due to sudden changes in weather and sea conditions.

He stressed the importance of following the instructions and warnings issued by local authorities and the need for cooperation in forming volunteer teams to assist each other in these exceptional circumstances. He expressed his hope that everyone would be able to overcome this ordeal safely and securely.
