A camp set up by the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance
Today, Friday, the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance set up a sit-in camp in the Raydah and Qusayr Directorate, as part of its escalating field steps to demand the rights of the governorate, after setting up a number of armed points in the oil field areas.
A tribal source told Yemen Yemen Youth Net that the tribal alliance set up a sit-in camp on Friday afternoon in the Bashar Al-Mashqas area in the Raydah and Qusayr district, the eastern gateway to Hadhramaut Governorate.
According to the source, the camp comes within the framework of the escalating steps of the tribal alliance, demanding "Hadhramaut's rights and extending full control over land and wealth," he said.
At the beginning of this month, the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance began a field escalation, by setting up armed points along the Hadhramaut Plateau (the oil field area), and those points detained a number of oil trucks, with the exception of the tankers designated for electricity.
The installation of armed checkpoints came two days after the tribal alliance threatened to “seize land and wealth” if the Presidential Leadership Council and the government did not respond to its demands (which are related to services and administrative affairs in the governorate).
After the tribal gunmen took control of the oil fields, the alliance formed a committee to sit with the directors of electricity and oil, but they "refused to deal with it or provide it with any information regarding the quantities of diesel being pumped to the power stations and facilities, as well as refusing to allow the alliance's representatives to enter to supervise the pumping of quantities to the power stations and oil facilities," according to a statement by the tribal alliance.
Yesterday, Thursday, the local authority in Hadhramaut confirmed that it will not deal with any committees that do not have legal legitimacy, pointing out the danger of such steps that would harm the institutional work that Hadhramaut is pursuing.
She reiterated her emphasis on not objecting to supervising her work and the work of service institutions, but through legal frameworks and under the umbrella of the state.
The local authority in Hadhramaut expressed its absolute rejection of forming any committees that do not have legal status, stressing that it will not deal with them. It also held those committees legally responsible for their interference in any official procedures.
