The Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance announced, on Saturday, the start of opening camps to recruit the sons of the governorate, in a move it described as coming within the framework of responding to what it called the "procrastination and delay" of the Presidential Leadership Council regarding the governorate's demands.
In a statement, the alliance expressed its belief that the demands of Hadrami society go beyond mere protests, but rather reach the necessity of obtaining self-rule.
The head of the alliance, Omar Habreesh, said in a speech he gave during a tribal parade in the Hadhramaut Plateau, that "the tribal alliance will not wait long in the face of the Presidential Council's intransigence," noting that the recruitment of Hadhramaut's sons has begun in special camps in the region.
Habrish confirmed that this force will be financed through the financial resources contributed by Hadhramaut from its natural resources, adding that the establishment of a special fund will provide the necessary funding to support vital institutions in the governorate, such as the Electricity Corporation.
Habrish continued by saying that the Hadrami community feels that the demand for self-rule has become an urgent necessity given the current situation, criticizing the lack of response of the Presidential Council leadership to the demands of the Hadramout Tribal Alliance over the past five months.
He stressed that the alliance had reached the conviction that "the council does not represent Hadhramaut, but rather represents other parties and components."
Since last August, the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance has intensified its military escalation by deploying armed points at the entrances to the governorate, in addition to the presence of points in the oil field areas, where it demands the protection of local wealth from looting.
These escalating steps have received mixed reactions among the components of Hadrami society, between those who support the idea and those who oppose it.
