The World Health Organization announced that cholera cases in Yemen have risen to 240,000 cases, and 844 deaths associated with the disease since last March.

The World Health Organization ( WHO ) office in Yemen said in a post on its account on the "X" platform, Saturday: "Between the beginning of the cholera outbreak in March of this year and the end of November, 240,000 suspected cholera cases were reported."

He added that among these cases, 844 deaths related to the disease were recorded.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Health and Population in the legitimate government, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, and UNICEF, launched an oral vaccination campaign against cholera.

According to the World Health Organization, the campaign aims to "control cholera outbreaks and protect communities."

The campaign involves 3,672 vaccination teams targeting 3.8 million people from 34 districts in the liberated areas. To ensure wide coverage of the most vulnerable populations, the campaign adopts a house-to-house vaccination strategy, complemented by fixed vaccination sites and health education teams.

It is noteworthy that the majority of cases of infection with the epidemic are recorded in areas controlled by the Houthi militia, which is waging a campaign of distortion and incitement against vaccines, which has caused the spread of epidemics and diseases that can be prevented by vaccines in those areas and from there to the entire country.
