What is the story of the date rape drug that caused fear in Egypt?

Social media in Egypt is abuzz with talk about a drug known in the media as the “girl rape drug.” There has been a lot of talk about the narcotic drug, also known as GHB, after news of people being arrested on charges of possessing narcotics.
The Egyptian police arrested two suspects and said that they found more than 180 liters of the drug in their possession.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Saturday that the two defendants imported the drug through international websites and smuggled it into Egypt in containers belonging to cleaning companies for camouflage purposes, with the aim of promoting it among young people and achieving illegal profits.
What is a date rape drug?
It is a powerful central nervous system stimulant, known by the name gamma hydroxybutyrate, abbreviated as "GHB". The drug is used in anesthesia during surgical operations. It is also used as a treatment for alcohol and drug addiction in addiction treatment centers. It is used with patients with narcolepsy under the supervision of a doctor.
Large doses of the drug can cause loss of consciousness and a type of short-term memory loss known as anterograde amnesia.
Symptoms that have encouraged many sexual assaulters to use it to sedate and immobilize victims, earning the drug its nickname of the "date rape drug."
When combined with alcohol or other depressants, the drug can be deadly.
