The Tribal Committee of Lahj tribes demanded, on Monday, the immediate release of Sheikh Yasser Abdullah Fadl Al-Azibi and his companions, who were arbitrarily detained by the Transitional Council forces in the interim capital, Aden, in southern Yemen.

The committee said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by "Yemeni Youth Net", that Sheikh Al-Azibi, his brother Murad Abdullah Fadl Al-Azibi, and Salem Lasoud were arbitrarily detained by the Director of Dar Saad Police, Musleh Al-Dharhani, while they were legally and peacefully following up on the case of Officer Hamza Yasser Al-Azibi in the building of the Specialized Criminal Prosecution in Aden.

The committee stressed that the detention of the aforementioned individuals constitutes a flagrant violation of the law, especially since they were on an official mission to follow up on the implementation of the release order issued by the Criminal Prosecution against Officer Al-Azibi, before they were arrested and assaulted without any legal justification.

The tribal committee warned that the continued detention of tribesmen without justification could lead to widespread popular escalation, including organizing protests inside the capital, Aden, stressing that all Lahj tribes reject these practices and will not stand idly by in the face of any attack on their sons.

The committee called on the concerned authorities, represented by the Attorney General, the Governor of Aden, and the Director of the Governorate Police, to intervene urgently and direct the immediate release of the detainees, to avoid any repercussions that may affect security and stability in the capital, Aden.
