Today, Saturday, the round of negotiations in the Omani capital, Muscat, between the government and the Houthi militia regarding prisoners and abductees ended without reaching a clear agreement, and the government delegation accused the Houthis of sabotaging the round.
A member of the government delegation, Majid Fadael, said, “Today we concluded the ninth round of consultations on detainees and detainees, which the Omani capital, Muscat, hosted during the past days.
He added in a post on the
Fadhail accused the Houthi militias of thwarting any exchange in this round and said, "They do not give the prisoners and their families any weight," as he put it.
For his part, the head of the Houthi delegation negotiating the prisoners, Abdul Qader Al-Murtada, said that they agreed to hold a new round of negotiations after two months, during which time the statements would be exchanged and approved.
According to the Houthi leader accused of participating in the torture of kidnapped people in militia prisons in Sanaa, the negotiations resolved some knots, such as the fate of the kidnapped leader Muhammad Qahtan, and the exchange of lists of some prisoners.
The Islah Party had launched a severe attack on the negotiating government delegation, considering it a delegation that does not represent legitimacy, because of what the Houthi leader reported that the negotiation took place on the condition that the exchange be made with Qahtan, alive or dead, which the party described as “immoral” dealing.
Al-Islah confirmed that it has information that “Muhammad Qahtan is alive and holds the Houthis responsible.” Al-Islah is asking the government delegation to initially negotiate with the militias to allow his family to visit him or communicate with him, before holding the final round of negotiations, according to what was decided by the government.
