The Gulf Cooperation Council reiterated, on Friday, its support for all international and regional efforts to establish peace in Yemen in accordance with the three references.
This came during a meeting between President Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi and the Secretary-General of the Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Badawi, on Thursday, on the sidelines of the meetings of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in the United States of America, New York.
The Council's website said that the meeting discussed the latest developments in the Republic of Yemen, including the valuable efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to achieve peace in Yemen, and the importance of continuing those efforts to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, development and peace.
During the meeting, Al-Badawi stressed that the GCC countries stand side by side with the Yemeni people in all circumstances, so that Yemen can restore its security and stability and put it on the path of sustainable development, which guarantees that the Yemeni people live in dignity, peace and security.
He also stressed the GCC countries' support for the efforts made by the Presidential Leadership Council to enhance security and stability in the country, and the GCC's commitment to supporting all international and regional efforts, including the efforts of the United Nations, to reach a comprehensive political solution that ends the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the three references: the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and Security Council Resolution 2216.
