The Islah Party in Taiz called on the Presidential Council to take strategic steps to stop the deterioration of the living conditions, work to end the Houthi militia project, and bear responsibility for these two duties.
The Islah Party in Taiz said in a statement on Tuesday, "The state leadership and the government must take major strategic steps to lift the people's living suffering and end the nightmare of the militia of injustice and darkness from the homeland."
The Islah statement pointed to the steadfastness of the city of Taiz and its struggle against the Houthi militias to restore the state, and that they are committed to their pledge of general mobilization, but it indicated, saying, "Its people (Taiz) and all the Yemeni people are facing difficult living conditions and painful inflation," according to the statement.
The reform warned that the deterioration of living conditions "may reflect its negative impact on public tranquility and social security, and provide opportunities for those with bad intentions who are lying in wait."
The Taiz Reform statement set two duties for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government: “Toppling the Houthi project and confronting the people’s living conditions with urgent practical solutions,” and said: “They must work with all their energies and efforts in both duties.”
Taiz reform demands
Taiz Islah Party confirmed nine demands directed to the local authority in Taiz, as well as the Presidential Council and the government, coinciding with a state of anger witnessed in Taiz Governorate due to the deterioration of the living conditions, which appeared in continuous protests by teachers.
- To the local authority in Taiz
The Islah statement called on the local authority to "rationalize spending and develop a priority plan for the governorate, the main goal of which is the suffering of citizens, and to focus on economic opportunities in the governorate, most notably agriculture, fisheries, and the port and airport of Mokha."
Stressing the need to "fight corruption and refer the corrupt in the local authority offices and directorates, according to the reports of the Central Agency for Control and Accounting, to the Public Funds Prosecution," in addition to "improving services related to people's lives, such as water, electricity, and roads."
In its statement, the Taiz Reform Party called for “forming a committee or holding an expanded meeting that includes representatives of the private sector, civil society organizations, Taiz University, unions, and relevant parties in the local authority to consider possible and available solutions to the teachers’ issue.”
In addition, he called on "businessmen, traders, the wealthy and civil society organizations to revive the duty of brotherly solidarity with poor families and alleviate their suffering during the holy month of Ramadan."
- To the Presidential Leadership Council
In the statement, Islah called on the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to "assume their constitutional, legal and national responsibilities and work to stop the deterioration of the national currency and everything that would save the stifling economic situation and improve the living conditions of citizens."
He reiterated his demand for the presidency to "work on rationalizing spending and controlling resources through official revenue institutions, fighting corruption and referring the corrupt to the Public Funds Prosecution," in addition to "working by all means to re-export oil and gas, and depositing all state revenues into the Central Bank."
Taiz Reform called for "finding practical and urgent solutions to relieve the burden on state employees, especially teachers."
Teachers in Taiz, the most populous governorate, are protesting to demand an improvement in their salaries, at a time when the collapse of the Yemeni riyal has caused a significant deterioration in the living conditions of the population, in light of the presidency’s inability and failure to assume responsibility.
