UN report: More than 60,000 African migrants to arrive in Yemen in 2024

A UN report revealed, on Wednesday, that more than 60,000 African migrants arrived in Yemen during the past year.
The International Organization for Migration said in its December 2024 report that its migrant tracking matrix monitored the entry of 60,897 African migrants into Yemen during the period from January to December 2024.
Last December, the UN organization explained that it had monitored the entry of 20,435 migrants, an increase of 13% over the previous month.
The report indicated that the majority of migrants arriving in Yemen last December were Ethiopians (98%), while 2% were Somali. 92% of the migrants entered the coasts of Taiz Governorate on the western coast of Yemen via Djibouti, while 8% arrived on the coasts of Shabwa coming from the coasts of Somalia.
Men represented 58% of the total number of immigrants arriving during December, compared to 21% of children, and the same number of women.
