A workshop organized by the Mokha Center for Studies in Marib city, on Thursday, recommended enhancing coordination and sustainability in localizing humanitarian projects.
This came during the workshop organized by the center in cooperation with the local authority and the executive unit in Marib city under the title "Humanitarian Projects between Emergencies and Recovery: Sustainable Strategies to Support the Response in Marib."
The workshop aimed to enhance coordination and cooperation between stakeholders in the humanitarian response, and to develop strategic plans to support recovery efforts in the governorate. It concluded with practical recommendations aimed at achieving these goals.
The workshop focused on four main axes. The first axis addressed developing coordination and cooperation between the relevant parties, where participants stressed the importance of improving coordination mechanisms using technology and establishing a joint operations room that includes all parties concerned to manage crises and disasters, which contributes to facilitating communication and exchanging information effectively.
In the second axis, discussions focused on marketing humanitarian needs and attracting funding. Participants called for adopting innovative methods to present humanitarian needs to donors and attract additional support from new sources. Improving communication with previously uncooperative donors was also discussed.
The third axis focused on localizing humanitarian work in Yemen, stressing the need to build the capacities of government ministries and civil society organizations to manage humanitarian crises more effectively.
Participants stressed the importance of strengthening local capacities to ensure the sustainability of humanitarian efforts and reduce dependence on external support in line with local needs.
In the fourth axis, participants addressed the topic of sustainability and post-disaster recovery, with a focus on how to secure sustainable financing and implement long-term projects. Participants discussed strategies to ensure the sustainability of recovery projects and enhance methods to meet future challenges more efficiently.
The workshop concluded with a set of practical recommendations, including enhancing cooperation between local authorities and humanitarian organizations by adopting innovative technologies and joint frameworks, developing effective strategies for marketing humanitarian needs, and localizing humanitarian work through building local capacities.
The need to explore new financing opportunities and develop a practical framework for implementing and marketing the strategic plan for recovery and reconstruction in Marib was also emphasized.
The workshop organizers stressed the importance of following up on the implementation of the recommendations to ensure the achievement of the desired goals and enhance the humanitarian response in a sustainable and effective manner, which contributes to improving the lives of the population and supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts in the governorate.
