The Israeli Institute for National Security Studies has published new statistics on the loss of life and property suffered by Israel during the multi-front war of extermination that began on October 7, 2024.
According to the data, 1,845 Israelis were killed in the war, including 841 soldiers, on various fronts, in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon, amid accusations of concealing the true toll.
The institute pointed out that the war also resulted in 23,955 Israelis being injured with varying degrees of severity, including 5,656 soldiers, while about 143,000 people were evacuated from their homes due to rockets and operations by the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance.
Regarding attacks on the occupation, the data revealed that about 27,000 shells, missiles and drones were launched at the occupied territories, and the majority of these attacks came from the Gaza Strip.
This report shows that there are many challenges facing "Israel" on both the military and "civilian" levels, in light of the ongoing military operations on several fronts, which have caused severe damage to lives and property.
Last January, an Israeli army official said that the army needed to recruit 10,000 soldiers.
This came in statements made by the head of the army's personnel department, Dado Bar-Khalifa, at a meeting of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Security Committee (parliament), regarding the need to recruit religious Jews (Haredi), according to the official Hebrew Broadcasting Authority.
Regarding the recruitment of the Haredim, Khalifa added: “We are making a great effort, and I am convinced that as we move forward and succeed in recruiting our ultra-Orthodox brothers, they (the Haredim) will join us.”
A draft law is being discussed regarding the recruitment of religious people into the occupation army. The opposition says that it includes exceptions for religious people, and describes it as an “evasion law.”
The issue of recruiting religious Jews is a source of wide controversy in Israel, where non-religious political parties support it, while religious parties, which are partners in the government, oppose it, saying that the religious people’s mission is to study the Torah.
The talk about the need for Israeli soldiers comes after the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on Sunday, which halted the genocide carried out by Tel Aviv on the besieged Strip since October 7, 2023, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of more than 157 thousand Palestinians, and the loss of 11 thousand others.
