Aden: Yemen Youth Net - Special
Electricity service gradually returned to the city of Aden (southern Yemen), late last night, after the President's station "Metro Masila" was restarted, after a complete shutdown of service since Monday morning.
Local residents told Yemen Youth Net that electricity service returned late yesterday evening and witnessed a relative improvement during the early hours of today morning.
Earlier yesterday evening, the Aden General Electricity Corporation announced the re-operation of the turbine at the President's Station with a capacity of 65 megawatts after supplying the station with crude oil fuel.
It added in a statement that its technical teams are working to gradually restore electricity to all districts of the capital, Aden.
The Corporation explained that operating the turbine of the President's Station will allow the solar station to be re-entered at its full capacity to generate electricity starting this morning, which will contribute to operating the service at the minimum level and alleviating the suffering of citizens due to the total power outage that the capital witnessed on Monday morning.
The Corporation renewed its call to all concerned parties to expedite the provision of sufficient quantities of diesel and fuel oil to restart all stations that have been closed for weeks, in order to ensure improved service stability and meet citizens’ needs.
Aden Electricity Corporation announced on Monday morning a complete power outage, explaining that the reason for the outage was the shutdown of the main Aden station (Petro Masila) as a result of the international line being cut off in Abyan Governorate, and preventing the arrival of crude oil tankers needed to operate it.
