Today, in the interim capital, Aden, the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh, launched the Unified Vital Statistics Registry Information System.
Dr. Buhaibeh stressed the importance of working with the information system to fully transition from the paper system to digital registration, and to achieve the ministry’s vision of upgrading the digital information system and introducing additions to it.
He pointed out that the Ministry has a coordination plan with the Ministry of Interior, other relevant ministries and health sector partners to register births and deaths with the aim of unifying efforts and information.
For his part, the Director General of Information and Research, Dr. Ahmed Al-Saeedi, reviewed the time stages that the Vital Statistics Registry Information System went through, starting with evaluation and planning, through implementation activities on a sample of health facilities, and up to its final launch today, whether electronically or on paper.
In another context, the Minister of Health stressed the importance of establishing a health support fund to contribute to meeting the great health needs.
Dr. Buhaibeh said in his speech during the meeting with representatives of the World Bank via video conference technology, “The scarcity of resources, the decline in international support, and the difficult economic situation of the country prompted the ministry to search for sustainable self-sources to contribute to covering needs.”
He stressed the importance of the Health Support Fund's work to cover basic needs according to a system of governance and transparency in its management and work that achieves confidence in it among citizens and donors.
