Aden University confirmed its legal ownership of the 400-hectare campus land, based on official documents issued since 1997.

The university explained in a statement issued by it the nature of the dispute with the sons of Hadi, after they claimed ownership of the land, and reviewed the details of the case and the judicial procedures that confirm the invalidity of those claims made by the sons of Hadi.

The university confirmed its ownership of the campus land under a legal ownership contract since 1997, but the dispute began due to claims of land ownership based on a customary document of questionable authenticity.

She pointed out that Hadi's sons relied on temporary, inconclusive rulings, and tried to prove ownership through subsequent procedures, but the final rulings invalidated those documents.

The university confirmed that the current conflict has hindered vital projects such as the construction of a 500-bed university hospital at a cost of $100 million, and the university city project.

She indicated that she had discovered new documents confirming her ownership, and filed a petition to have the case reconsidered before the court.

In this regard, she appreciated the support of officials to preserve the campus lands, most notably Dr. Salah Al-Shoubji and Major General Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, for their support of the university’s position and considering the campus a “red line.”

The university appealed to the judiciary, the government, civil society organizations, and the media to support its cause and protect the future of education.

In its statement, Aden University refuted the allegations made by Hadi’s sons, noting that they tried to strengthen their questionable document with a temporary ruling, but the final decisions invalidated those attempts and confirmed that the land belongs to the state.

She stressed that Hadi's sons exploited the situation to implement the temporary ruling in 2019, despite their knowledge of its invalidity, praising in this context her continued legal defense of her rights, in order to preserve the future of generations and higher education projects in Aden.
