The death toll from a gas station explosion in Al Zaher District, Al Bayda Governorate (central Yemen) has risen to 82, with people killed and injured, while a search is underway for missing persons.

The Ministry of Health in the Houthi government (unrecognized) said that the number of victims of the gas station accident in the Al-Nasifah district of Al-Zaher district in Al-Bayda governorate reached 82 cases.

She added in statistics published by the militia's media that 15 people died and 67 others were injured in the accident, including 40 in critical condition, while the search for missing persons is still ongoing.

The militia announced an explosion in four gas stations in the Al-Nasifa district of Al-Zaher district, without revealing the causes of the explosion, which identical sources confirmed was caused by gunfire by Houthi elements that caused one of the stations to explode before the other stations exploded in succession.

The Monitoring Organization for Rights and Freedoms said in a statement on its social media accounts that the explosion was caused by the Houthi militia targeting the car of the citizen (Mohammed Ahmed Al-Hadi) at the Umm Jabr checkpoint in the Al-Nasifa Al-Jarish area, which caused a fire to break out in the nearby gas station.

The organization added in a brief statement that the initial statistics indicate that 6 people were killed and 126 others were injured.

The organization condemned the crime, calling for "a clear position from the United Nations organizations and the UN envoy to Yemen regarding the crimes committed against the Yemeni people, which are increasing day after day without any condemnation or accountability."
