Taiz police announced on Sunday that security forces were able to arrest a sorcerer last week who lured women and sexually exploited them under the pretext of treating witchcraft and the evil eye with the Quran and herbs, noting that he had come from Sana'a to treat one of the patients, as he claimed.
The Security Media Center said that according to initial investigations, it became clear that the defendant (W.H.A.) has a center called Dar Al-Ruqyah Al-Sharia in Dhahban (occupied Sana’a Governorate - Bani Al-Harith District), through which he has been practicing his suspicious activity without any license or supervision from the relevant authorities, since 2014 AD. He has also been working as a teacher at Amran University, College of Commerce, since 2011 AD.
The statement added that according to the confessions and correspondence found, he receives cases through his center to treat them for witchcraft, the evil eye, and possession, and then corresponds with the victims and traps them through indecent messages.
Taiz police reported that the sorcerer confessed to his second marriage after her family brought her to him to consult him about whether she was affected by magic. He helped her divorce her husband and married her. He claimed several victims from different governorates, indicating that the case file is being completed to be referred to the competent authority.
The police called on all fellow citizens to stay away from sorcery centers and sorcerers and to rely on specialized medical centers to treat their diseases, in order to protect them, and to report any suspicious activity by such sorcerers.
