Hadramout: Yemen Youth Net

The Yemeni Oil Company and the Electricity Corporation in Hadhramaut Coast announced that the quantities of fuel that the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance announced it would allow to pass through are not sufficient to partially operate the electricity stations in the governorate’s coast in eastern Yemen.
On Friday, the media office of Presidential Leadership Council member Faraj Al-Bahsani spoke about “the response of the Hadhramaut Governor and the head of the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance to the treatments we have taken regarding the continuity of the work of the Petro Masila Company and the flow of fuel quantities to operate Hadhramaut power stations in a sufficient manner.”
The Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance announced that it would allow the Hadhramaut Coast Electricity Company to be supplied with the diesel it needs from PetroMasila Company, in addition to the usual daily quantities of diesel estimated at (364,000 liters) three hundred and sixty-four thousand liters per day.
The alliance also announced that it would allow the supply of additional quantities of diesel to Hadhramaut Valley electricity estimated at (115,000 liters) one hundred and fifteen thousand liters, in addition to the previously usual quantity of (85,000 liters) eighty-five thousand liters, at a total rate of (200,000 liters) two hundred thousand liters per day.
Hadrami leaders have proven that despite their different positions on the nation’s issues, they have a great sense of responsibility, a great sense and great confidence in overcoming all obstacles and differences among them. The response of brother Mr. Mabkhout bin Madi, Governor of Hadramout, and Sheikh Amr bin Habrish Al-Ali, First Deputy Governor of Hadramout and Head of the Alliance…

Following that, the Oil Company and the Electricity Corporation in Hadhramaut Coast responded in a joint statement, confirming that what was announced by the Hadhramaut Alliance leadership, and what the statement mentioned about allowing an increase in the quantities of diesel sent to the coastal power stations, as well as allowing the passage of diesel, was not accurate in what it mentioned.
The statement said, "The quantities needed by the power stations on the Hadhramaut coast are much more than what was stated in that statement," explaining in numbers the actual quantities needed by the power stations on the coast on a daily basis, which are as follows:
- The amount of fuel required by diesel power plants on a daily basis (518,400 liters), in order to produce (80 megawatts).
- The amount of diesel fuel that stations operating with this material need on a daily basis (690,000 liters) to produce (125 megawatts).
The statement added that these quantities of fuel, in both its forms, are paid fuel, paid for by the local authority and not, as some people portray it, provided for free by PetroMasila, which demands that the authority pay its dues for these quantities directly, and which also suffers from a problem in financing the continuity of production, which threatens to stop production in the future.
He explained that in order for power stations to be able to generate energy, they need expenses other than diesel, such as life-saving maintenance for the stations, purchasing oils and spare parts, and other expenses to permanently address faults, which the local authority was providing for free to the electricity branch, by harnessing the price difference of diesel that was sold in the local market to cover those expenses.
He also explained that the quantities that have been allowed to pass so far, estimated at about (364,000 liters), are only a part of the actual need for diesel to partially operate power stations to produce the available amount of energy.
The statement concluded by saying that if the amount of diesel is added, paying the value remains the obstacle to its arrival, so we hope that the efforts and initiatives will lead to reaching the value first before agreeing to allow its passage.
Hadhramaut is witnessing escalating tension between the local authority and the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance, headed by the governor’s deputy, Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, who had previously set up armed checkpoints to prevent the exit of oil tankers from the PetroMasila Company, in a move he said was “precautionary to preserve the country’s wealth as a result of the spread of corruption and tampering with Hadhramaut’s capabilities and resources.”
