Honoring the first in high school this year and ignoring the first in last year
Today, Yemeni journalist Yasser Hassan expressed his dissatisfaction with the local authority in Aden Governorate's disregard for honoring his son, who won first place in Yemen in high school during the past year 2022-2023.
This came after the Governor of Aden, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, was honored today, Wednesday, the first in Yemen for the current year 2023-2024.
Yasser Hassan pointed out that the governor ignored honoring his son, who came in first place in the secondary school exams last year with a score of 99.88, while he honored the first place at the level of Yemen for the current year, who received a score of 99.75.
Hassan said that his son was not honored by the governor of Aden, where the student studies, and he has not received any grant from the government yet, while the governor went to honor the top student this year even though she lives in Shabwa Governorate.
It is noteworthy that journalist Yasser Hassan works as a correspondent for Al Jazeera in Yemen.
Many top high school students complain about discrimination in the distribution of government scholarships, and the lack of clear and transparent mechanisms that ensure the fair distribution of scholarships without favoritism or discrimination.
