Lahj: Yemen Youth Net - Special
Lahj Court
Al-Hadd Primary Court in Al-Hadd Yafa’a District closed its doors to citizens’ cases in protest against violations of its duties by the President of the Lahj Governorate Court of Appeal.
Human rights sources told Yemen Youth Net that the Al-Hadd Court accused the head of the Court of Appeal in Lahj, Judge Naji Al-Yahri, of interfering in its duties in canceling guarantees and releasing detainees, and as a result, its doors were closed.
The Al-Hadd Court had posted a notice on the walls of its headquarters, confirming the suspension of work until further notice, due to what it described as violations and lack of respect for its decisions and orders issued in executive cases in which the implementation procedures and decisions issued in them are still in effect, by the Director of Appeal of Lahj Governorate, in violation of the law.
The court considered "these violations to be a blatant interference in the court's authority by a person who has no legal capacity or authority to issue orders to cancel court decisions or empty them of their content, which reflects on the litigants' confidence in the court," it said.
The court stated that, in order to preserve the prestige and sanctity of the judiciary and to uphold its decisions and authorities that were attacked, it took the decision to suspend work starting from Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Al-Hadd Court confirmed that it "will not lift the suspension until all its demands are met and strict legal measures are taken against anyone who violates the court's decision and cancels it, in addition to responding to the court's repeated demands to follow up and prosecute anyone who dares to insult the court president and Lahj judges in posts on social media networks."
