Tribal mediation succeeded, on Saturday, in stopping armed clashes between two tribes in the Asilan district of Shabwa Governorate, southeast of Yemen, after days of tension and intermittent clashes.

Tribal sources told "Yemeni Youth Net" that a mediation led by a number of tribes and social figures had initially reached a ceasefire and the lifting of the siege between the "Balharith" and "Al-Boutahif" tribes in the Asilan district.

According to the sources, the tribal mediation confirmed that it will continue its efforts and follow up on resolving the issue between the two tribes (which comes in light of the increasing tribal revenge in the governorate).

Last week, clashes erupted between the "Balharith" and "Al-Boutahif" tribes in the Al-Farsha area in the Asilan Directorate, following previous disputes between the two parties, in light of the complete absence of military and security formations in the governorate.

It is noteworthy that the roots of the problem between the two tribes go back to about ten years ago, following a dispute over border lands located between the districts of Bayhan and Harib, where the "Al-Boutahif" tribe belongs to Marib, while the "Balharith" tribe belongs to Shabwa.
