Security forces in Shabwa Governorate, southeast of Yemen, have continued to detain a minor boy for about five days, as a means of pressuring his father following a dispute over a property.

Human rights sources said that the child, Nasser Abdul Karim Shamat Al-Khalifi, 16 years old, has been detained in the Criminal Investigation Prison in Ataq since last Thursday.

The sources explained that the child was detained due to a dispute over a property between the child's father, the Land Authority, and the Public Works Office in the governorate, with the aim of pressuring him.

The sources demanded that the governor of Shabwa, Awad bin Al-Wazir, and the director general of the governorate's police, Fouad Al-Nasi, quickly release the child, noting that he is studying in the first year of secondary school and has an exam next Thursday.
