Islah Party stresses ending Houthi coup and financial division as an entry point to peace in Yemen

The Yemeni Congregation for Reform Party stressed the necessity of ending the coup of the terrorist Houthi militia, restoring state institutions, and ending the financial division, as basic foundations for a permanent and sustainable peace in Yemen according to the three references.
This came during a meeting held by a number of party leaders, headed by the party's Supreme Council member and head of its parliamentary bloc, Abdul Razzaq Al-Hijri, with the office of the UN envoy to Yemen in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Friday, according to the party's website, "Al-Islah Net."
According to the party's website, the meeting discussed efforts related to establishing peace in Yemen, and the Islah Party's vision on the foundations of comprehensive and sustainable peace.
Al-Hajri stressed the Islah Party’s support for all efforts seeking to establish peace, according to the three references: national, regional and international, in a way that guarantees the restoration of the state, the withdrawal of weapons from the militias, and the state’s exclusive right to possess heavy weapons.
He noted that a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire and confidence-building measures are essential steps towards achieving peace.
The Islah delegation stressed that the release of the abducted and forcibly disappeared is a top priority, as well as the implementation of UN Resolution 2216, which calls for the release of the abducted political activist Mohammed Qahtan, who is included in the resolution, and all the provisions contained in the resolution regarding the Houthi militia.
The Islah delegation also stressed the need to agree on transparent and balanced mechanisms to address the repercussions of the economic situation, ensure the distribution of humanitarian aid, work to end the financial division, unify the currency, and support the Central Bank in Aden to resume paying employees’ salaries according to the 2014 payrolls, while ensuring the transfer of all revenues to the government treasury from all Yemeni geography in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement, and the rapid lifting of the siege on Taiz Governorate.

The Islah delegation included the acting head of the Islah Political Department, Dr. Ahmed Halah, the deputy head of the parliamentary bloc and head of the Islah Aden, MP Ansaf Mayo, the bloc member, MP Ali Hussein Ashal, the Islah leaders Ahmed Al-Maqrami and Salem Bin Talib, and a representative of the Women’s Department, Amina Mohammed.
In recent weeks, the Office of the UN Envoy has begun holding a series of meetings with Yemeni political entities to explore solutions, assess changing dynamics, and strengthen commitments toward a comprehensive peace process.
