Aden: Yemen Youth Net
The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate expressed its deep concern on Monday about the unknown fate of journalist Mohammed Al-Mayahy, who was kidnapped by the terrorist Houthi militia in Sana'a.
The union said in a press release: "Journalist Mohammed Al-Mayahy has been in the Houthi group's detention center since September 20, under poor detention conditions and an unknown fate."
The statement added: "The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate announces its deep concern about the unknown fate of colleague Al-Mayahy and the harsh detention conditions he is living in on the basis of an opinion case," renewing its condemnation of this repressive approach against a journalist who carries nothing but his pen and his opinion.
The union's statement came after activists on social media circulated news about "the death of journalist Al-Mayahy as a result of being tortured in the prisons of the terrorist Houthi militias supported by Iran."

There is no truth to the death of writer Mohammed Dabwan Al-Mayahy in Houthi prisons.
According to a relative of Al-Mayahy, he has been in detention since last September after the Houthis raided his apartment in Sanaa, and his family has received promises that they will be allowed to visit him in a few days. #Yemen pic.twitter.com/PRVfCW9g7i
In its statement, the Journalists Syndicate held the de facto authorities in Sana'a responsible for the safety of Al-Mayah and all those abducted by it, and stressed its demand for the speedy release of colleagues Mohammed Al-Mayah and Fouad Al-Nahari, who were also arrested at the end of September on the basis of an opinion case and are living in difficult detention conditions that put their lives at risk, as happened with journalist Abdo Masoud Al-Madan, who suffered a stroke during the period of his abduction last week.
The union renewed its demand to release the journalists who have been detained for a long time, namely Wahid Al-Sufi, Nabil Al-Sadawi, and Fahd Al-Arhabi, who are detained by the Houthi group, Ahmed Maher and Naseh Shaker, who are detained by the Transitional Council in Aden, and Mohammed Qaid Al-Maqri, who has been forcibly disappeared by Al-Qaeda in Hadhramaut.
