The Ministry of Interior announces the arrest of a Houthi cell wanted by the Ministry of Defense in Hadhramaut

The Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced today the arrest of a cell affiliated with the Houthi militia, classified as a terrorist group wanted by the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, in Hadhramaut Governorate, with a quantity of drugs in its possession, the second such arrest in a few days.

The Criminal Investigation Department in Hadhramaut stated that the cell was arrested while trying to smuggle narcotics, after a chase that ended with the suspects' vehicle overturning and their arrest, according to what was published by the Security Media Center affiliated with the Ministry of Interior.

According to the statement, a silver-coloured “Habah wa Qart” vehicle was seized, driven by the person named (M. Y. M.), 32 years old, who is from Saada Governorate and currently resides in Seiyun.

The statement explained that 23 Captagon pills were found in the cell's possession during the search, which prompted them to attempt to flee towards a security checkpoint in Shahouh, west of the city of Sayoun. However, the patrol police carried out the chase, which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and overturn in the Sum Bin Hammam area.

Three others were also arrested after they tried to smuggle them after the accident. The statement only published the first letter of their names (M. A. S. B.), (S. Y. S. M.), (T. M. Sh.). They were driving two Corolla vehicles, one of which was short and the other white.

The statement indicated that initial investigations revealed that these individuals are wanted by the Ministry of Defense on charges related to belonging to a terrorist cell linked to the Houthi group.

He pointed out that all the accused and the seized items were detained, and the case was referred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.

This comes days after Abyan police arrested a cell affiliated with the terrorist Houthi militia in Abyan Governorate, coinciding with the Minister of Interior announcing the arrest of a Houthi cell in Hadhramaut Valley.
