Yemen, UAE discuss enhancing military cooperation to protect Red Sea sea lanes

On Wednesday, Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Daari discussed with the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations in the United Arab Emirates, Major General Awad Al-Ahbabi, ways to enhance military and security cooperation between the two countries, in a way that contributes to protecting the strategic sea lanes in Bab al-Mandab and the Red Sea.
The Yemeni News Agency "Saba" reported that the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the IDEX and NAVDEX 2025 exhibitions in the capital, Abu Dhabi, discussed the latest developments in Yemen, the challenges facing international navigation security, and the need to intensify joint efforts to ensure the security and stability of the region.
Lieutenant General Al-Daari praised the role of the UAE within the coalition to support legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, appreciating its sacrifices in supporting Yemen and its armed forces in confronting the Iranian-backed Houthi group.
The Minister of Defense stressed the importance of continuing coordination to protect sea lanes as a vital artery for global trade.
