Atletico Madrid climb to the top of the Spanish League Real Madrid falls at Betis

Atletico Madrid temporarily moved to the top of La Liga after beating Athletic Bilbao, while Real Madrid lost to Real Betis on Saturday in the 26th round of the Spanish league.

Julian Alvarez scored the winning goal for Atletico in the 66th minute, giving his team three valuable points and moving them to the top, taking advantage of Real Madrid's stumble by losing to host Real Betis (2-1).

Atletico Madrid raised its score to 56 points, two points ahead of second-placed Barcelona, which will host Real Sociedad on Sunday in the same round.

For its part, Bilbao's balance froze at 48 points in fourth place.

Real Madrid loses

Real Madrid lost at Real Betis by two goals to one on Saturday in the twenty-sixth round of the Spanish Football League.

Brahim Diaz opened the scoring for Real Madrid in the 10th minute, taking advantage of a decisive pass from Ferland Mendy, before Johnny Cardoso equalised for the home side with a header, taking advantage of the same corner kick as Isco in the 34th minute.

Isco returned as the star of the match and put his team, Real Betis, in the lead after scoring the second goal in the 54th minute from a penalty kick.

Real Madrid's balance froze at 54 points in second place, while Real Betis raised its balance to 38 points in sixth place.
