Mbappe leads Real Madrid to victory over City and qualification to the Champions League round of 16

Kylian Mbappe's hat-trick led his team Real Madrid to victory over Manchester City on Wednesday evening and qualify for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid repeated its victory over Manchester City (3-1) in the second leg of the play-off to qualify for the Champions League round of 16.

The Spanish team had won the first leg in Manchester by three goals to two, to advance to the round of 16 of the most prestigious European Cup with a score of (6-3) in the aggregate of the first and second leg matches.

Returning to the events of the match at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, French star Kylian Mbappe imposed himself as the star of the match by scoring a complete hat-trick against City (4, 33 and 61).

The defending champions, who are seeking to extend their record and win the tournament for the 16th time, will play in the next round against Bayer Leverkusen or local rivals Atletico Madrid. The draw for the round of 16 will be held the day after tomorrow, Friday.

With this match, Real Madrid reached the round of 16 of the Champions League for the twenty-eighth consecutive season since 1997/98, and also reached the same round in all 29 of its participations in the Champions League under its current name since the 1992/93 season.

Manchester City, led by Spaniard Pep Guardiola, failed to reach the Champions League round of 16 for the first time since the 2012/13 season, and Real Madrid beat Manchester City in 4 of their 6 matches in the Champions League knockout stages.
