City announced the postponement of the match between Barcelona and its guest Osasuna in the 27th round of the Spanish Football League due to the death of a member of the Catalan team's medical staff.

Fans had begun to enter the Olympic Stadium "Luis Companys" to attend the Barcelona and Osasuna match, before it was cancelled about 20 minutes before kick-off.

"With great regret, FC Barcelona announces the sad news... the death of the first team doctor, Carles Minaro Garcia, this afternoon," the Spanish league leaders said in a statement.

"For this reason, the Barcelona and Osasuna match has been postponed to a later date," he added.

"The Board of Directors and all members of the technical staff at Barcelona wish to convey their sincere condolences to his family and friends. We are with them in this difficult time," he continued.

Barcelona players were shocked and saddened by the death of one of the medical staff members, Dr. Carlos Minaro Garcia, for the Catalan team.

Marca reported that Barcelona players were not aware of the death of first-team doctor Carles Minaro Garcia when they arrived at the Luis Companys stadium, but president Joan Laporta informed them of the sad news.

The decision was also communicated to Osasuna's goalkeepers who were warming up on the pitch at the Olympic Stadium and who immediately left.

On the other hand, the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Dr. Garcia died this afternoon at the Gran Melia Torre Melina Hotel, during the team's training.

Minaro, 40, joined Barcelona's first team this season from the futsal team, which he joined in 2017 after six years as an assistant doctor in the sports assistance and prevention unit at the Sant Sogat Centre.

Osasuna posted a message on its X account mourning the death of Carles Garcia: "Osasuna Club would like to convey its deepest condolences to the family of Doctor Carles Minaro Garcia and would like to send a big hug at this difficult time to all the members of the Barcelona technical staff, as well as their fans. May he rest in peace."

The Spanish League announced in a statement via the (X) platform, "The League regrets the death of the Barcelona first team doctor, Carles Minyaro Garcia, and announces for this reason the postponement of the Barcelona and Osasuna match scheduled for today." It added that the Competitions Committee will set a new date for the match.

Barcelona top the standings with 57 points, one point ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who visit Getafe on Sunday, and three points ahead of third-placed Real Madrid, who play Rayo Vallecano.
