Al Jazeera quoted sources as saying that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will visit Damascus tomorrow as the first Arab leader to arrive in Syria.

The Syrian Presidency confirmed that the leader of the new administration, Ahmed al-Sharaa, will meet with the Emir of Qatar tomorrow, Thursday.

On January 16, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met with Al-Shara in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Before that, Doha reopened its embassy in Damascus and raised the Qatari flag on it, after it was closed in July 2011.

Earlier this month, Doha hosted Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani.

In support of the Syrian people, Doha has continued to send urgent relief aid to Damascus since the fall of the regime of ousted President Bashar al-Assad.

On December 8, 2024, Syrian factions took control of the capital, Damascus, after other cities, ending 61 years of the bloody Baath Party regime and 53 years of the Assad family’s rule.
