On Monday, the Sudanese army continued its advance in the cities of Khartoum and Bahri, north of the capital, and took control of several neighborhoods there.
The army said in a brief statement: "The armed forces advanced on the Kober Bridge axis and took control of the Universal Hospital (private) in the Kober neighborhood and cleansed the area of the Rapid Support Militia that occupied the infrastructure and used it as military bases."
On Saturday, the Sudanese army announced that it had regained control of the neighborhoods of the "Haj Youssef" area, the largest residential area in Khartoum, from the Rapid Support Forces.
With these developments, the army is close to taking full control of the city of Bahri and East Nile.
In Khartoum, the army took control of Abu Hamama neighbourhood in the Sajana area, south of central Khartoum.
Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that the army forces were able to liberate the oil towers, the Malaysian tower, and the Ibrahim Malik Islamic Complex in Abu Hamama neighborhood.
Witnesses said that the army took control of Abu Hamama neighbourhood and removed Rapid Support Forces checkpoints on the main Sajana Street leading to central Khartoum.

Activists on social media posted video clips of army forces roaming the Abu Hamama area and Al-Sajana Street.
Thus, the army forces control most of the neighborhoods located south of downtown Khartoum, according to the Anadolu Agency correspondent.
Currently, the army controls most of the city of Omdurman and Bahri, while some parts of downtown Khartoum, including the presidential palace, remain under the control of the Rapid Support Forces, in addition to the eastern and southern neighborhoods of Khartoum.
On January 29, the Sudanese army announced its control over the center of the city of Bahri, north of Khartoum, including the Mak Nimr Bridge linking Khartoum and Bahri for the first time in 21 months.
This came two days after the army announced the lifting of the siege on the Signal Corps headquarters in Bahri and the General Command headquarters in central Khartoum, for the first time in 21 months.
Since mid-April 2023, the army and the Rapid Support Forces have been waging a war that has left more than 20,000 dead and about 15 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations and local authorities, while research by American universities estimated the number of dead at about 130,000.
There are growing international and UN calls to end the war in order to spare Sudan a humanitarian catastrophe that has begun to push millions of people to famine and death due to food shortages caused by the fighting that has spread to 13 of the 18 states.
