The Association of Mothers of Abductees announced on Thursday that it had monitored the kidnapping of nearly 300 people by Houthi militias during their campaign against citizens in Qayfa Rada’a in Al Bayda Governorate, central Yemen.

The association said in a statement, "While we are striving to release thousands of abductees from prisons in various Yemeni governorates as a humanitarian file and a key to the desired peace in Yemen, the pace of kidnappings has increased since the beginning of last week in Al Bayda Governorate by the Houthis after they raided the Qifah area in Rada'a in Al Bayda Governorate."

The statement added: "We strongly condemn the kidnapping campaign carried out by the Houthis against civilians and citizens in Qifah Hanakat Al Masoud," noting that the kidnapping of nearly 300 people was monitored during this campaign, and they are defenseless civilians suffering from tragic humanitarian conditions.

The Association stressed that these flagrant violations of human rights represent a continuation of behaviors that contradict all international laws and norms, exacerbate the suffering of citizens and violate their dignity, and even constitute crimes against humanity for which those responsible must be held accountable before international law.

She called on the international community, including the United Nations and international and local human rights organizations, to assume their humanitarian and moral responsibilities and urgently intervene to stop these kidnappings and pressure the Houthis to immediately release all the kidnapped and ensure their safety and return.

The association also held the Houthi group fully responsible for the lives and fate of the kidnapped, stressing that its voice is the voice of every kidnapped person, every family awaiting the return of their loved ones, and every Yemeni citizen dreaming of a safe and stable Yemen.
