The death toll from a gas station explosion in Yemen's internationally recognized government has risen to 40, with dozens more injured, an official in the country's internationally recognized government said on Friday.
Arif Al-Omari, the media director in Al-Bayda, explained that the accident created a great tragedy, as the number of deaths rose to 40 cases and the number of injured to more than 70, most of whom are in critical condition.
Al-Omari told Reuters that a large group of seriously injured people were transferred to hospitals in Aden to receive treatment, due to Al-Bayda's lack of the necessary medical capabilities.
Local and human rights sources revealed last Saturday that Houthi elements opened fire on a citizen’s car, and a stray bullet reached a nearby gas station and exploded, causing a disaster that led to the death and injury of dozens.
Later, the militia said that the incident was caused by the explosion of 4 gas stations, but did not indicate its causes.
