A child and his father were injured on Tuesday when a landmine left behind by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia exploded in the south of Al Hudaydah Governorate, western Yemen.

Local sources said that a landmine exploded on a motorcycle that was being ridden by citizen Abdullah Jaber Mashhour, accompanied by his child Mohammed (14 years old), west of Al-Duraihimi District, according to September Net.

The sources indicated that the explosion resulted in serious injuries to “Mashhour” and his child, who were subsequently transferred to the hospital for treatment.

This comes at a time when Houthi mines continue to claim the lives of civilians in the governorate, especially women and children.

The United Nations Mission in Yemen (UNMHA) confirmed the killing and wounding of five people in mine incidents in Hodeidah during last November, while another statistic revealed the killing and wounding of 55 civilians as a result of Houthi mines during seven months.

It is worth noting that the United Nations had classified Yemen as the third country in the world affected by landmines and remnants of war.
