Gulf 26: Yemen national team loses to Iraq in its first match

The Yemeni national football team lost to the Iraqi national team, the title holder, by one goal to none in the match that brought them together, on Sunday evening.
Our national team lost by a single goal at Jaber Mubarak Al-Sabah Stadium in its first match in Group Two of the 26th Gulf Cup hosted by the State of Kuwait.
The only goal of the match was scored by Iraqi striker Ayman Hussein, who succeeded in exploiting a pass from his teammate Amjad Atwan to put it into our team’s net in the 64th minute of the match.

With this result, the Iraqi team earned its first three points in the tournament and temporarily topped Group Two, awaiting the result of the match that will bring together the Saudi and Bahraini teams later.
The Yemeni national team failed to achieve its first victory in the Gulf Cup after playing 34 matches in the history of its participation in the tournament.
Iraq has the most players playing outside the local league, compared to the rest of the teams participating in the Gulf Cup.
