The Yemeni national team ended its journey in the Gulf Cup with an exciting victory over its Bahraini counterpart, 2-1, today, Saturday, at the conclusion of the group stage.

Yemen took the lead with an own goal scored by Nasser Mohammed Al-Ghawashi in the 41st minute, but Mohammed Al-Rumaihi equalised for Bahrain in the 62nd minute.

Bahrain played with 10 players since the 73rd minute due to the expulsion of Sayed Mahdi Baqer.

The Yemeni national team took advantage of the numerical shortage in the ranks of its opponent, and snatched the winning goal two minutes before the end, through Haroun Youssef Al-Zubaidi.

The Yemeni national team managed to achieve its first ever victory in the history of its participation in the Gulf Cup after 36 matches.

The Bahraini team had secured qualification to the semi-finals, before today's match, by topping Group Two with 6 points.

The Yemeni national team collected the first 3 points in its balance, to come at the bottom of the standings, on goal difference from Iraq, the third-place team, which bid farewell to the tournament after losing 1-3 to Saudi Arabia, the runner-up (6 points).
