Liverpool qualify for the Champions League round of 16, Salah continues to shine

Liverpool secured direct qualification to the round of 16 of the Champions League thanks to an effective contribution from its star player, the Egyptian Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool beat their guest, Lille, France (2-1) on Tuesday in the seventh round of the league stage in the UEFA Champions League.

Egyptian Mohamed Salah (34) and Harvey Elliott (67) scored the Reds' two goals, while Canadian Jonathan David scored the visitors' only goal (62).

The match at Anfield witnessed the expulsion of Algerian Aissa Mandi for collecting two yellow cards (59).

With this result, Liverpool raised its score to 21 points with a full mark at the top of the league stage, while Lille's score froze at 13 points.

The match recorded new numbers for Mohamed Salah, who scored his 50th goal with Liverpool in European competitions combined, including the preliminary rounds.

Mohamed Salah became the first player to score 50 goals for a single English club in all European competitions, including the preliminary rounds.

While Liverpool reached the Champions League round of 16 for the seventh consecutive participation since the 2017-2018 season.
